Learn To Play
Introducing the THRIVE Learn to Play Program! This engaging basketball program is designed specifically for beginners with no prior experience, who have a strong desire to learn. We provide a fun and safe environment where all players feel included and can enjoy the game of basketball. This program is available for boys and girls in grades 3 to 8. Our program focuses on skill development, teamwork, and building confidence on the court
Skill Development
- Offensive Skills – Ball Handling, Passing, Layups, Shooting, Movement With and Without the Ball.
- Defensive Skills – Positioning, Movement, Boxing out, Rebounding, Person to Person, Team Helpside Defense
3-on-3 Game Game Play:
- Players will be ranked by coaches in terms of their talent, ability and work ethic.
- Teams will consist of maximum five players in order to allow for maximum playing time.
- New teams will be made each week, giving players the opportunity to play with new teammates of different playing abilities.
- Players will receive 2 points per victory and 1 point for a tie. At the end of the season, the five top players will receive a championship award.
- Grade 3/4: This 1-hour session features 35 minutes of focused training followed by a 25-minute modified 3 vs. 3 game using a 9-foot hoop.
- Grade 5 – 6: Training for 1 hour every Monday, and Games day on Wednesday. Modified 3 vs 3 with 10ft hoop.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF 3-on-3 BASKETBALL?
- On average players will be involved 40% more playing 3-on-3 than they will play 5-on-5.
- 3-on-3 simplifies the game.
